Background

The Agriculture and Food Council of Alberta is a non-profit society formed in 1994 as a result of the Creating Tomorrow consultation process between the Alberta government and agriculture and agri-food groups. Learn more about the history of AFC.

It is an industry-led organization comprised of member representatives from across Alberta's agri-food industry. An election is held every spring to replace members of the Board of Directors whose terms have expired.

The Council is a catalyst for the agri-food industry to encourage growth, sustainability, competitiveness and profitability.

The Council manages the Canadian Agricultural Adaptation Program (CAAP) in Alberta on behalf of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada

The Agriculture and Food Council is also a forum where industry members can engage one another, stakeholders, and the public.
