Speaker and Event Program

Guidelines for the new ACAAF Speaker and Event Program

ACAAF will fund 50% of the eligible costs up to a maximum of $15,000

Eligible costs include:

  • Speaker costs, including fee, transportation, accommodation and meals
    (or per diem)
  • Audiovisual, advertising material, translation, facility rental and other goods/services specific to the completion of the event if hired externally 
  • Federal and provincial taxes, including the non-refundable portion of the GST paid by the applicant

Ineligible costs include:

  • Cost of travel, accommodation, meals, and fee of federal and provincial government employees participating as speakers
  • Purchase of items, such as office equipment, or permanent displays
  • Costs related to hospitality for the attendees, including costs related to gifts, entertainment ,or alcohol
  • The refundable portion of the GST or other items for which a refund or rebate is received

Application Process for the Speaker and Event Program

Verify eligibility for the Speaker and Event Program with ACAAF office. Applicants must be agriculture industry associations, universities, colleges, consortia of community groups and organizations with a regional reach, and the provincial/municipal government (where industry is a co-applicant).

The event must attract a minimum of 50 people, but lower attendance may be considered if the applicant demonstrates a substantive benefit to industry or rural communities.

Events taking place outside Alberta may be eligible, provided a direct benefit to Alberta’s agriculture industry can be shown. In addition, events are eligible if they have multiple venues across the provinces/territories, including Alberta, in which costs will be shared among the ACAAF Councils.
