Heather BroughtonHeather and her husband Greg operate a third generation family grain farm in the Donalda area, as well as own and operate a custom grain hauling business. Heather, operating as business manager for both businesses, has a strong interest in farm business management and leadership skills, which led her to complete Canadian Total Excellence in Agricultural Management (CTEAM), as well as the TEPAP program through Texas A & M. Heather was also involved with Options & Opportunities, a producer conference in Camrose, that brought individuals, local, national and international entrepreneurs and industry experts who offered innovative agricultural strategies and shared successes, challenges and ideas to help producers become stronger business operators and rural leaders. She also served on the planning committee for Fall Focus – a conference for farm women for 18 years, and as chairman for eight of those years, where the event provided both informational and educational speakers to 375 women each year to further enhance their learning and networking. Heather has also been a member of Agriculture and Food Council of Alberta since 2006. She served as vice chair for two years, one year as chair in the former structure of Council and currently is now in her second year as Chair under the new structure of AFC. |
