Association recognizes AFC staffer for contribution to profession

Nisku, Alberta – The Agriculture and Food Council of Alberta is pleased to announce that Agri-Industry Development Officer Tricia Meaud was recently awarded the first Achievement Award by the Alberta Human Ecology and Home Economics Association.

“The Council extends our congratulations to Tricia on her Achievement Award,” said Council Chair Marilyn Sharp, who is also a professional home economist. “To be honoured by one’s peers is a career highlight. We appreciate the excellent work she does on Council’s behalf.”

Meaud is a professional human ecologist and has worked for AFC for the last two years administering Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s Advancing Canadian Agriculture and Agri-Food (ACAAF) program. She was pleased to be the first recipient of the prestigious award.

“I feel very honoured to receive this award from my fellow human ecologists and home economists,” Meaud said. “The association and its professional members have achieved a lot for industry in this province and across Canada and it’s a great compliment to be recognized by them early in my career.”

The Council is a leader in Alberta’s agriculture and food industry. It is a unique agent with a vision for Alberta’s agriculture, food and life sciences industry to be globally competitive, profitable and sustainable. To help realize this vision, the Council has developed various partnerships with industry and governments. It operates a number of targeted programs and initiatives, and is increasingly viewed by industry partners as a catalyst for policy discussions on important issues and trends affecting the industry.

The Alberta Human Ecology and Home Economics Association (AHEA) is a self-regulated professional organization whose members are dedicated to improving the quality of life of families and individuals by helping them make the best use of their resources.  The Achievement Award is awarded to a member who has made a significant contribution to the association within five years of becoming a member.
