Nisku, Alberta - The Agriculture and Food Council of Alberta congratulates its former chair Frank Fallwell on his well-deserved induction into the Agriculture Hall of Fame.

The Council and I would like to extend our warmest congratulations to our dear friend and former colleague, said Chair Marilyn Sharp. Frank set a positive example to the Council chairs who followed. I still rely on his advice and guidance from time to time.

When Fallwell served as Council chair from 2000 until 2003, he oversaw development of the operating and governance architecture that allowed the Agriculture and Food Council to grow into one of the most accountable organizations in Alberta.

The Agriculture Hall of Fame recognizes Albertans based on their significant contributions to agriculture and rural life, in addition to their strong personal qualities.

Fallwell serves as Chairman of Billingsgate Fish Company Ltd., which is now in its fourth-generation of Fallwell family ownership. He has also contributed to the success of organizations such as the Agricultural Products Marketing Council, Growing Alberta and the Alberta Food Processors Association.

Hall of Fame inductions take place every two years at a ceremony hosted by Alberta Agriculture, Food and Rural Development. Fallwell will be inducted tomorrow in a ceremony hosted by AAFRD Minister Doug Horner.

The Council is a leader in AlbertaÕs agriculture and food industry.
