Soil to Sky's new look invites job seekers to probe deeper

Nisku, Alberta – Job seekers, refresh your browsers! The Agriculture and Food Council’s popular industry careers website, www.soiltosky.ca, has undergone a facelift that updates its look, navigation options and content.

“Since the re-launch, the site has already seen a change in how visitors are exploring – digging deeper, linking further, and exploring more opportunities than ever before,” said Larry Malazdrewicz, Chair of the Agriculture and Food Council action team involved in the portal’s development. “Soil to Sky never stops growing and adapting to better serve job seekers and the agri-food industry.”

Part of the reason for the re-design was to incorporate a Careers Podcast into the site’s content. Soil to Sky now has two podcasts, or audio career profiles, available on the site where visitors can hear first-hand from young people working in the agri-food industry.

Soil to Sky aims to draw young job hunters toward an agriculture and food career by providing career information and links to employers in a single location.  The website was created in 2006 in response to the worker shortage being experienced by employers in many sectors of Alberta’s economy, including agriculture and food.

The Soil to Sky web portal was created from the Council’s Human Resources Information Exchange Centre (HRIEC) project. It is a project under the Innovation in Agribusiness Management Fund (IAMF), which is made possible through the Renewal Chapter of the Agricultural Policy Framework (APF), a Federal-Provincial-Territorial initiative.
