Speaker and Event funding increased to $15,000 per event

Nisku, Alberta – The Agriculture and Food Council has increased the maximum amount of funding available to help eligible groups pay for special event speakers to $15,000 per event effective April 1, 2008.

The Advancing Canadian Agriculture and Agri-Food (ACAAF) Speaker and Event program previously supported costs to a maximum of $10,000.

“The increase in the maximum amount of funding to $15,000 reflects the rise in the cost of goods and services,” said Dee Ann Benard, Chair of the Council’s Advancing Canadian Agriculture and Agri-Food (ACAAF) Action Team, which administers Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s ACAAF program in Alberta. “We are looking forward to all the opportunities for sharing knowledge that this increase will create for Albertans involved in the agriculture and agri-food industry.”

ACAAF’s Speaker and Event program supports 50% of total eligible costs up to $15,000, including speaker fees, transportation, accommodation and meals. Other event costs for audiovisual, advertising, printing, conference coordination and more may be included if they are contracted externally.

Industry associations, post-secondary institutions, community groups and regional organizations are eligible for program funding provided the event benefits Alberta’s agriculture and agri-food interests. The intent is to target events that attract a minimum of 50 participants, but exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.
