The Agriculture and Food Council of Alberta is a non-profit industry-led organization comprised of member representatives from across Alberta's agri-food industry.

Our vision and aim is to ensure that Alberta's agriculture and food industry will be globally competitive, profitable, and sustainable.

The Council serves as a catalyst for the agri-food industry. Our goal is to encourage quality and adaptability across all sectors in the industry. We encourage growth, sustainability, and profitability.

New Icon  Last of three Buyer Aware policy forums to take place March 10 in Leduc

"Buyer Aware III: Understanding and Engaging Consumers and Markets in Agri-Food" on March 10, 2010 is the last of three policy forums to be hosted by the Agriculture and Food Council. Click here for the agenda. The purpose of these events is to review trends and explore current opportunities and issues in the way Alberta and Canada's agri-food industry engages its consumers and markets.

The first event in the series took place on November 25, featuring Award-Winning Economist and Sustainability Expert Wendy Holm as the Keynote Speaker. The second event took place on January 13 with Keynote Speaker Dr. Joe Schwarcz, Director of McGill University's Office for Science and Society which is dedicated to demystifying science for the public, the media and students. Resourcing for the Future, the 2009 HR Congress Summary Report now available

During a two-day event in April 2009, the Agriculture and Food Council addressed the critical issues of human resources and management development by exploring industry-specific options for recruiting, retaining, and developing agri-foods labour and talent at all levels. Agri-food Leadership Program offered in partnership with University of Alberta's School of Business Executive Education

The Agriculture and Food Council of Alberta and the University of Alberta's School of Business Executive Education are collaborating to offer a new Agri-food Leadership program to the Alberta industry. The program is comprised of four modules, delivered over four months focusing upon leadership personal awareness, leading others, coaching and mentoring and influencing organizational performance. Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada announces Canadian Agricultural Adaptation Program (CAAP)

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada announced the Canadian Agricultural Adaptation Program (CAAP) on June 11. The five-year, $163-million program will build on the success of the Advancing Canadian Agriculture and Agri-Food (ACAAF) program, administered in Alberta by the Agriculture and Food Council. Advanced Leadership Management Development Program (ALMDP) now accepting bursary applications

The Advanced Leadership Management Development Program (ALMDP), starting September 1, is accepting applications from industry members for funding to access learning opportunities. Up to $7,500 is available per person on a first come - first served basis to cover 100% of tuition and up to 50% of eligible expenses on approved programs. Innovation in Agribusiness Management Fund now accepting applications

IAMF is now accepting applications for projects focused on the three priority areas of: Human Resource Management; Transition Initiatives; and Leadership. Applicants are encouraged to apply with new and innovative projects that fit within these three key areas.
