The workshop is designed for farmers’ market vendors and farm direct operators who want to understand food quality issues and how to determine the shelf life of food products,” says Delores Serafin, Alberta Agriculture and Forestry (AF).
Topics to be covered include:
- what food quality is
- the difference between food quality and food safety
- product shelf life and what it means
- how to use hand held testing equipment and where to buy it
“Linda Ho of CanBiocin will share strategies to determine the shelf life of your processed food products while Stuart Johnston with the Food Processing Development Centre will demonstrate hand-held lab equipment,” says Serafin. “As well, AF’s Ileana Costiuc will highlight key food and nutrition labelling requirements.”
