Debbie, in a previous role as the Executive Director with 630 CHED Santas Anonymous, incorporated and registered the charity while operating the toy program from 2005 to 2010. After 10 years of constant moving of the charity, Debbie was asked by the Board to explore a permanent solution to affordable warehouse and office space. The Jerry Forbes Centre for Community Spirit was born; is almost at 80% funded and due to open in September 2016.
Debbie’s background includes 14 years as an I.T. consultant after earning her Bachelor Degree in Computing Science at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Debbie has lived in Edmonton since 1988 and after her I.T. career spent 10 years as a volunteer in her community while raising her 3 daughters with husband Tim. As a volunteer, Debbie was part of a team to set up a new Community League for Brookview, served as Chair of a playground project and administration of youth basketball. Raising three daughters and working in the charitable sector under current economic conditions have made it a necessity for Debbie to find humor and balance in her life. Hobbies include backyard gardening, yoga and volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and Edmonton Folk Music Festival.
